Job Description

Job Title: Bilingual Community Outreach and Program Intern (English/Spanish)

We are seeking a motivated and bilingual (English/Spanish) intern to join our team for a 6-month internship program with the possibility of extension based on performance. This part-time role offers flexibility with 5-15 hours per week, remote work opportunities, and occasional office or on-site responsibilities. The ideal candidate will support the organization in managing programs, events, and community outreach while working closely with the president to ensure smooth operations.

The ideal candidate will support the organization in managing programs, events, and community outreach while working closely with the president to ensure smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Scholarship Program Management:

  • Collaborate with swim school partners and the public to administer swim lesson scholarships.
  • Communicate with scholarship applicants via email and phone to vet, process, and connect them with partner swim schools.

2. Event Planning and Coordination:

  • Assist in organizing 5-7 annual events, including water safety days, workshops, fundraising events, and webinars.
  • Coordinate staff and volunteers for events and provide on-site support during execution.

3. Community Outreach and Partnership Development:

  • Engage with existing community partners and establish new relationships, particularly in low-income communities requiring swim lesson instruction.
  • Expand the network of partner swim schools and promote fundraising activities/events for the charity.

4. Grant Research and Writing:

  • Identify grant opportunities and assist with preparing and submitting grant applications to support organizational initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (written and verbal). Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Passion for community engagement and nonprofit work.
  • Flexibility to attend occasional in-person meetings or events as needed.

Program Details:

  • Duration: 6 months (extension based on performance).
  • Hours: 5-15 hours per week (flexible).
  • Location: Remote with limited office and on-site work.
  • Meetings: Bi-weekly progress updates with the president.
